This site has been constructed from neurological journal articles addressing the way disorders are portrayed in the media, independent web searches, a search of the Internet Movie Data Base http://www.imdb.com/, an Amazon Movies search, and Wikipedia media lists on neurological disorder sites. As much as possible, sources have been indicated and links preserved. Generally movies have been ordered from newest to oldest.
In 2010 the American Brain Foundation initiated the Neuro Film Festival (http://patients.aan.com/go/about/neurofilmfestival), a contest to raise awareness through video about the need to support research into the prevention, treatment and cure of brain diseases. Nearly 300 films have been submitted since the Festival began in 2010. Click to access the videos, which have not been sorted for this site.
This website is the final project of a neurology mentorship. I am a high school student interested in pursuing some aspect of science, maybe neurology or biochemistry. There is so much to learn about how our brains work, and how they can be helped to heal themselves. If you have questions or comments feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
